The Humane Society of Cambria County (HSCC) has found a few cats among our cat population to be exhibiting severe upper respiratory symptoms. As a precautionary measure, our Cat Adoption Room is closed to the public, effective immediately, to contain symptoms and to prevent any further spread. At this time, HSCC is working closely with a licensed veterinarian to determine a definitive diagnosis.

While we work through diagnosis and treatment, cat and kitten adoptions have ceased. However, HSCC will continue to accept and process adoption applications. Potential adopters will be contacted throughout this timeframe as to the status of their application. Once the Cat Adoption Room is re-opened, HSCC will resume cat and kitten adoptions as normal.

Those who have recently adopted a cat or kitten from our shelter should not be alarmed about their new pet. While the HSCC encourages adopters to monitor their cat or kitten, adopters can trust that the health of their new pet was evaluated prior to being placed for adoption. Adopters with concerns or questions may contact the shelter staff at 814-535-6116 or their veterinarian.

Individuals who need to place a cat at this time are encouraged to contact surrounding shelters and rescues.

To help out, please consider making a donation online: Donations can also be made in person at the shelter, over the phone at 814-535-6116, or via mail at 743 Galleria Drive Extension, Johnstown, PA 15904.

Our Dog Adoption Room remains open, and dog adoptions and intakes continue to function as normal.
